“They may say you’re a dreamer….”
Olaf and Charlotte are the owners of the Red Caboose
Getaway Bed & Breakfast in Sequim, Washington. The unique experience of
staying with them was well worth the trip. The B&B owners are very
accommodating to motorcyclists. When we arrived we were greeted with a
handshake from Olaf who had reserved an upfront parking spot along with
clean towels to wipe down the bikes. He shared his stories of taking
motorcycle road trips and assured us that our bikes would be treated as
special guests during our stay. Our deluxe accommodations were in the
Casey Jones “Conductor” car, complete with seating in the engineers
perch, a feather bed, gourmet chocolates, and internet access. In the
morning we had a wonderful breakfast in the Silver Eagle dining car
along with several other guests who were equally impressed with their
stay. The strawberries “dressed” in tuxedo’s were a hit!
Olaf’s dream of creating the unique bed and breakfast
required him to make quite a few sacrifices for his dream, which
included selling his motorcycle. As the Red Caboose Getaway gains
popularity Olaf plans to complete his life-size train set by adding a
few more cars, making it possible to entertain several more guests. As
more people are able to stay, the profits will allow Olaf to once again
have a motorcycle, which he says is his sign that the venture has gone
full circle. Charlotte is quite the supportive wife and smiles as Olaf
talks about the completion of their dream. If you’re headed for the
Olympic Peninsula be sure to stop at the Red Caboose Getaway to see Olaf
and Charlotte, and be sure to let them know that Ironman & Sugarlips
sent you! |
