Road Trip Day Five!

Highway 97 South from Prince George to Highway 1 South to Hope, BC

 Miles: 394

Road Trip Log Update: We made a quick stop at the Prince George Harley Davidson dealership to buy the Ironman gloves that were more all weather and rain proof. It turned out to be wishful thinking as the weather again turned to consistent rain with frigid temperatures. No amount of rain gear or $85.00 gloves was going to make a difference. We were all getting a little “cab-in fever” riding in the truck and decided to dedicate the road trip finale to riding in Ketchikan and to make our way for home. Two year old Lily taught us the art of “harness dancing” from her car seat and kept us all entertained with learning our ABC’s while keeping an eye out for playgrounds with slides. She was a gentle reminder that road trips are about keeping a sense of humor no matter what happens. We all agreed that taking the ferry up to Alaska was a good move, and driving back was a nice change of pace. From Prince George to Hope, B.C. is another remote region winding through canyons, tunnels, and eventually flowing into more populated areas. This is not a road to ride at night as the navigation takes some expertise and following the rivers edge makes the temperature drop considerably. Hope, B.C. is the last city still apart of the wilderness trek before hitting the Canadian Highway #1. The town is small and quaint with friendly locals, plenty of well kept motels, a few restaurants and gas stations. Hope is a good place to stop before heading for the border which was less than 65 miles away.
