The day progressively got warmer but stayed comfortable as we traveled across State Route 2 through New Hampshire and Vermont. For the most part the roads were smooth. There was one 5 mile stretch that had so much construction that the road was torn down to dirt. In Vermont they believe in repairing the road all at once. We felt like we were on an obstacle course at 10 miles an hour. The extra effort was worth it because the air was so clean and the scenery was so green. When we stopped for fuel, or to eat, the local people were extremely friendly and very interesting. We commented on the great weather and inquired about how cold it was in the winter months. One gal said “Oh gosh, really, really, really cold. I mean really cold”. A little kid added “Veeeerrrrrrry cold!” That would explain all the motorcycles that were out. Seems as though the cold winters have helped people in that part of the country to develop a sense of humor. For our next stop we traveled on 91 South into Brattleboro for an opportunity for JillMarie to see the hometown of Emma Bailey the first American women auctioneer who wrote the book “Sold To The Lady in the Green Hat”. The rest of the day was spent enjoying riding the New York countryside until the sun faded and the weather got cold. We decided to rap up the day and get ready for the upcoming storm predicted to hit around Pennsylvania or Ohio.
