Road Trip Log Update: We woke up to a beautiful day with gracious
hosts who wanted to take us on a boat ride to Fire Island. After traveling over
6500 miles Eric & Jill convinced us that what we needed was a day off. We
crossed the Bay with a sight seeing tour and then to Fire Island for lunch.
After being on our bikes for almost a month it felt strange to get on the boat.
It took about 5 minutes to readjust and Tim enjoyed being the Skipper while
Captain Eric took a break. The weather was perfect for a day out on the water.
The island has so much to see and an interesting feature is that no motor
vehicles are allowed. Everyone walked on sidewalks and sandy paths pulling
wagons. No one wore watches and it appeared as though a party was gong on
wherever we went. After lunch we walked over to the other side of the island to
put our feet in the Atlantic Ocean. It was hard to believe that just 20 days ago
we were on the beach in San Diego looking at the Pacific Ocean.
