Road Trip Log Update: We traveled I-5 to Grants Pass to 199 to connect with 101. As we approached the Redwoods a sign grabbed our attention, "NARROW AND WINDING CURVES NEXT 8 MILES...CAUTION". It was allot of fun riding through the Redwoods. The roads had plenty of curves and for the most part smooth. Keeping your eyes on the road is a challenge due to the unbelievable size of the trees. The scenic cruise coupled with the sunlight coming through the canopy of trees combined with the smell of the ocean was so relaxing. Coming up on Eureka we knew we were not going to make the intended destination of Ukiah as Highway 101 was shut down. A semi truck had rolled over (no one was hurt) and traffic backed up for miles. There was nothing to do but wait for the detour. Eventually we were able to take 299 and reconnect with 101. With the sun going down and the wind chill setting in, we opted to stay in Fortuna.
